Wyethia Flame
Lodi, California
Gold Medal-winning Wyethia Flame presents a classic style from a historic region
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Wyethia Flame
Sauvignon Blanc
A 2022 "Best of Class" award winner! Our Wyethia Flame Sauvignon Blanc is perfect for those who love this grape variety in its most classic form. This wine’s modest acidity, fresh herbal aromatics, and textural minerality are all thanks to the unique climate of Lodi. This region sits in an ideal location where a gap in California’s coastal mountain ranges funnels in cooling ocean breezes and afternoon fogs from the San Francisco Bay. These cooling influences ensure that the Sauvignon Blanc grapes do not overripen, losing their refreshing acidity and characteristically powerful aromatics. Our local winemaking partners in Lodi have been translating the unique beauty of this region since the 1990s, and their dedication to California’s winemaking history becomes more apparent with each sip. Serve this wine well chilled as you savor it by yourself or share it with family and friends ...

WINE REGION:
Lodi
The jewel of the Central Valley, Lodi lies just east of the California Delta in an area of varied terroir. Winemakers here can extract different grape variety expressions from each plot of land. Zinfandel is common here, making deeply fruity and tantalizingly smoky wines, often from old vines. But the deep loamy soils and balmy Mediterranean climate, with its warm days and cool nights, help keep Lodi's grape varieties and winemaking styles impressively diverse. Alongside the ubiquitous Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Viognier also thrive. Lodi is a melting pot of different grape varieties and winemaking techniques, all of which make it a rewarding region to explore.

ABOUT THE BRAND:
Wyethia Flame
Wyethia Flame is rooted in the history and terroir of Lodi, California. The Wyethia flower shares this region's picturesque landscape with its state flower, the poppy, blooming in the sunny vales and floodplains between gently rolling hills. The "flame" refers to the traditional cultivation of Flame Tokay grapes introduced to the region in the 1900s, which for years supported Lodi's agricultural industry and were a common sight in nearly all its vineyards. Nowadays, this forgotten grape only exists in far-away corners of the region, replaced by European varieties better suited for winemaking. Our wines epitomize Lodi's terroir by respecting the rich history of native flora and cultivated crops, which helped shape the flourishing wine region it is known as today.
