Cabernet Sauvignon
Sourced from a region featuring some of California's oldest vines, our Threaded Tale Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi weaves together an enticing story of jammy, dark fruit, and delectable oak-influenced flavors. Lodi is home to many old-growth vineyards, some dating as far back as the late 1800s. As a vine ages, it produces a smaller amount of grape clusters. This means the nutrients the vine pulls from the soil and the energy it produces from photosynthesis is concentrated into a small number of grapes rather than dispersing these resources between a high volume of clusters. This focus results in highly concentrated flavors and a more desirable skin-to-pulp ratio. The jewel of the Central Valley, Lodi lies just east of the California Delta in an area of varied terroir. Winemakers here can extract different grape variety expressions from each plot of land. Zinfandel is common here, making deeply fruity and tantalizingly smoky wines, often from old vines. But the deep loamy soils and balmy Mediterranean climate, with its warm days and cool nights, help keep Lodi's grape varieties and winemaking styles impressively diverse. Alongside the ubiquitous Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Viognier also thrive. Lodi is a melting pot of different grape varieties and winemaking techniques, all of which make it a rewarding region to explore.
