Silver Oak
Napa Valley, California
A Napa Valley classic from one of California's premier wineries
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Silver Oak
Cabernet Sauvignon
What hasn't been said about Silver Oak wines? They are truly some of the finest wines in the country (and often, the pricing reflects it)! These are wines that are big and rich while still being complex. This release is from the 2016 vintage, which means that it's been aging at the winery for a year, and while it's drinkable now, over time (if stored properly), it will gain more complex and delicate flavors that offset the richness in the wine. The Cabernet has a touch of other Bordeaux varieties to soften the brashness of the wine and really round it out. With beautiful structure, rich red fruit, and oak complexity, this wine will delight for years to come.
NOTE: This is NOT a Firstleaf Exclusive Wine and is not eligible for discounts, member pricing, or member guarantee. Limited Availability.

Napa Valley
Napa gained international acclaim following the Judgement of Paris in 1976, when its wines defeated its French counterparts in a blind tasting. Napa's signature wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and various Bordeaux blends, but many other varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also thrive here. With 16 sub-AVAs and a Mediterranean climate with rich geology, Napa is a winemaker's dream. The winegrowing region runs between the Mayacamas Mountains and Vaca Mountains for 30 miles, from Calistoga to Los Carneros. Napa has a wide array of soil types for such a small region, from volcanic foothills to alluvial valley floors, which help to produce varied and complex wines.

Deep ruby in color, this 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an opulent wine with notes of cassis, ripe raspberry, toasted coconut, and shiitake mushroom. This wine has depth through the mid-palate, great structure without being heavy and exceptional length on the finish. Fresh cherry flavors balance floral notes, and a subtle hint of black pepper adds a beautiful complexity.

ABOUT THE BRAND:
Silver Oak
Silver Oak began over a handshake between two friends with a bold vision: focus on one varietal, Cabernet Sauvignon, aged exclusively in American oak and worthy of cellaring for decades to come. Ray Twomey Duncan, a Colorado entrepreneur who began investing in California vineyards in the late 1960s, and Justin Meyer, a Christian Brothers-trained winemaker, co-founded Silver Oak out of a Napa Valley dairy barn in 1972, producing only 1,000 cases of their inaugural vintage. Over the next two decades, Silver Oak grew in popularity. Their Napa Valley and Alexander Valley Cabernets sold quickly upon their release from the winery and became a highly sought-after staple on restaurant wine lists nationwide. After selecting Daniel Baron to succeed him as winemaker in 1994, Justin retired, selling his share of Silver Oak to the Duncan family in 2001. Ray’s sons, David and Tim Duncan, own and operate the winery to this day.
