Rebus
Rattlesnake Hills, Washington
Robust flavor and smooth textures showcase the best of a unique region
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Rebus
Red Blend
Rebus is the perfect name for our non-vintage Red Blend from Rattlesnake Hills, Washington. This wine boasts rich, jam-like flavor, plush textures, and enticing savory characteristics. Due to the rainshadow cast by the Cascade Mountains, conditions in this small region are comparable to a desert. Red grapes easily reach peak ripeness, developing the bold fruit flavors that serve as our blend’s backbone. In the same way that a rebus puzzle assembles a word using pictures and letters, our winemakers have pieced together a delicious wine by combining unique aspects of the growing region as it changes from year to year. In doing so, they have created a blend that offers freshness and fruit-forward character alongside the nuance and complexity achieved only through barrel aging. This wine is best enjoyed when paired with friends and party games, especially ones involving decoded messages. ...

WINE REGION:
Rattlesnake Hills
A small sub-region in the north of Yakima Valley, Rattlesnake Hills is a relatively new AVA. It has gained recognition for its finely balanced Riesling and Chardonnay and its structured Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The key is its hilly topography, with vineyards sitting at average elevations of 850 feet. The vines here enjoy better sun exposure and improved airflow than those in the valley below, helping the grapes stay healthy through the long growing season. With broad day and night temperature variations, wines from Rattlesnake Hills are increasingly in demand for their elegance.

TASTING NOTES:
Leather
Plum
Mulberry
Rustic aromas of aged leather allude to deliberate aging and add complexity to an otherwise dark fruit nose. Although the palate is hefty and bold, the textures are polished. Rich mulberry and plum flavors join the warm spice of oak influence for a complex flavor profile worth savoring.
