Taste the unique Macabeo grape in the 94 point, Platinum medal-winning release from Quedarse
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Quedarse
Macabeo
One of our favorite experiences is tasting new grapes and finding a whole new varietal that we are excited to explore, which is why we are so excited to share this beautiful Macabeo with all of our Firstleaf club members. It was originally introduced to Rioja in the late 1800s and has been incredibly fruitful. With notes of apricot, lemon, and pineapple playing off of orange blossom and a hint of basil, it’s a great wine for pairing with lighter dishes. We’ve been loving it with fresh salads, ceviche, and ripe peaches. Judges love it too! It took home 94 points and a Platinum medal at the 2020 Winemaker Challenge and a Silver medal from the 2019 Sommelier Challenge.

WINE REGION:
Spain
While its reputation as a serious wine destination was eclipsed by France and Italy for many years, ignoring Spain today means missing out on some of the world's most exciting wines. Enjoying hundreds of miles of sun-kissed coastline and rocky interiors at higher elevations, Spain provides an ideal location for vineyards. Whether it is sparkling cavas from Catalonia, crisp Verdejos from Rueda, sublime Tempranillos from Ribera del Duero or inky Monastrells from Valencia, Spain has many wine styles to explore, all expressing the country's wildly unique terroir.

TASTING NOTES:
Apricot
Pineapple
White Flowers
This is a strong grape that produces lush wines. We love the notes of apricot, lemon, and young pineapple that play across the palate. White flowers are present in the nose, but what ties it all together is how smooth it is.
