Azienda Fratelli Pighin is a family affair that really cares about showcasing the best of the region. This Pinot Grigio single variety is medium textured with patches of gravel. The vines were healthy and well pruned to ensure concentration. The winemaking process utilized techniques that would showcase the freshness of the grapes and resulted in a bright wine with beautiful fruit and great acidity.

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is Italy's most northeastern wine region. Sandwiched between the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains and the Adriatic Sea and bordering both Austria and Slovenia, the region has an intriguing mix of climates and cultures. It gained fame during the 1960s when the application of new German winemaking techniques saw it become the first Italian region to release fresh, fruity white wines for the international palate. Today, it is still famous for deliciously full-bodied Pinot Grigio, bursting with juicy peach and tropical fruit flavors. But the wines are not all white. Red wine lovers will find plenty to admire in the region's Merlot, where juicy flavors of ripe red fruit complement oaky spice.

This wine has an aroma of fruity and floral, with notes of banana, pineapple, and wisteria blossoms. It is dry with a great body and balance. Bright, crisp, and smooth with depth, complexity, and exceptional finesse; pure and tangy with a lengthy finish. Straw yellow, with light amber tinges.

Azienda Fratelli Pighin was founded in 1963 when brothers Ercole, Luigi, and Fernando Pighin acquired a 500-acre estate in the DOC Grave-del-Friuli zone then belonging to an aristocratic Friulian family. Azienda Fratelli Pighin has enlisted technical expertise tempered by respect for tradition in the uncompromising pursuit of quality. The firm voluntarily restricts its vineyard yield to approximately 75 to 80 percent of that permitted under DOC law to enhance varietal character, concentration, and quality of the fruit. Adherence to estate bottling affords the highest possible degree of control over the quality and consistency of the finished wine.
