ABOUT THIS WINE:

Kim Crawford

Kim Crawford

Sauvignon Blanc

The secret to Kim Crawford’s success is serious attention to detail in the vineyards and winery, with a special focus on sustainable practices, individual vineyard block harvesting, and small-lot fermentation. To retain the character of each subregion and block and use them to the best advantage, each block was handled individually to capture the special characteristics of the vineyard parcel. Aged in French oak to allow the sweet and structural influences from the oak to mingle seamlessly with the rich fruit and ripe tannins. The result is an evocative wine that is well-balanced, richly flavored, and deliciously complex.

NOTE: This is NOT a Firstleaf Exclusive wine and is not eligible for discounts, member pricing, or member guarantee. Limited Availability.

Due to state registrations, we cannot ship this wine to AL, AZ, CO, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY

WINE REGION:

Outline of Marlborough

Marlborough

New Zealand's Marlborough region is arguably its most important, a name synonymous with the country's distinctive world-class Sauvignon Blancs. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc—with its tropical fruit, gooseberry and herbaceous notes—is one of a kind. And it is all thanks to Marlborough's terroir: a large, gravelly river valley inland of Cloudy Bay at the northeast tip of the South Island, it enjoys long, warm, maritime-influenced summers. But Marlborough isn't only about Sauvignon Blanc. The region also produces exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, sparkling wine and both dry and sweet Riesling.

ABOUT THE BRAND:

large bunches of red grapes on the vine

Kim Crawford

Kim and Erica Crawford started the winery in 1996 by purchasing grapes from contract growers and leasing the production space from other wineries and, in a short period of time, became an iconic brand that helped build New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc as an international category. Winemaker, Anthony Walkenhorst, joined Kim Crawford in 2005. The first wine Anthony made won the Sauvignon Blanc Trophy at the Air New Zealand Wine. He continues to carry the torch, ensuring Kim Crawford’s style is present in every bottle. During fermentation, both punch-downs and pump-overs were used to ensure balanced extraction of flavor, aromatics, structure, and color. We aged in French oak to allow the sweet and structural influences from the oak to mingle seamlessly with the rich fruit and ripe tannins. The result is an evocative wine that is well-balanced, richly flavored, and deliciously complex.
