Napa Valley, California
92 Point Gold Medal vintage from the two-time 94 Point Platinum medal-winning Idlewright winemakers.
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Idlewright
Opulent Red
Our traditional blend of classic Bordeaux varietals garnered 92 points at the 2020 Sunset Magazine Wine Competition, one of the few annual competitions held thus far this year. Crafted from varietals which thrive in the well-drained, gravelly soils of the Napa Valley, arguably the most prestigious new world wine-growing region. In order to best express the opulence and texture of the fruit, it spent 3 weeks on skins before being gently pressed to French oak when it matured for 18 months before bottling.

WINE REGION:
Napa Valley
Napa gained international acclaim following the Judgement of Paris in 1976, when its wines defeated its French counterparts in a blind tasting. Napa's signature wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and various Bordeaux blends, but many other varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also thrive here. With 16 sub-AVAs and a Mediterranean climate with rich geology, Napa is a winemaker's dream. The winegrowing region runs between the Mayacamas Mountains and Vaca Mountains for 30 miles, from Calistoga to Los Carneros. Napa has a wide array of soil types for such a small region, from volcanic foothills to alluvial valley floors, which help to produce varied and complex wines.

We love the pomegranate and black cherry notes that precede an underlying spice. Deep fruit flavors are bolstered by vanilla, hibiscus, and rosemary in this thoughtful and thought-provoking wine.
