Holbrook Winery
Rattlesnake Hills, Washington
An outstanding vintage from Rattlesnakes Hills made even better with age
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Holbrook Winery
Cabernet Sauvignon
This exceptional wine is part of our Fine Wine Collection. Explore its full journey from vineyard to bottle here.
Holbrook Winery offers a long-awaited excuse to dust off our decanters. Our 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon from Rattlesnake Hills offers layers of aged dark fruit flavors, integrated oak, and sultry textures. The 2018 vintage is the most celebrated year for Washington wine in the past 20 years. This was one of the only recent vintages where wildfires and unexpected storms did not impact yields. The growing season was especially temperate, with ideal growing conditions continuing into autumn, elevating the final vintage from great to outstanding. This resulted in opulent, age-worthy reds, which have continued to improve with age. Decant for one hour.

DuWINE REGION:
Rattlesnake Hills
A small sub-region in the north of Yakima Valley, Rattlesnake Hills is a relatively new AVA. It has gained recognition for its finely balanced Riesling and Chardonnay and its structured Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The key is its hilly topography, with vineyards sitting at average elevations of 850 feet. The vines here enjoy better sun exposure and improved airflow than those in the valley below, helping the grapes stay healthy through the long growing season. With broad day and night temperature variations, wines from Rattlesnake Hills are increasingly in demand for their elegance.

TASTING NOTES:
Leather
Oak
Black Cherry
Memorable and complex. Aged aromas of leather and toasted oak lead into a full-bodied palate with velvet-like acidity and bold tannins. Dark fruit flavors fall secondary to oak and have progressed from fresh and ripe to rich, stewed black cherries followed by a lingering woody finish.
