FogBreak
Lodi, California
Fogbreak delivers a bold, Double Gold Medal-winning red blend from California’s Central Valley
ABOUT THIS WINE:
FogBreak
Barbera, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Grenache
Spicy, fruity, bold, and smooth. It’s the textured, earthy cherry wood notes make this Fogbreak blend a delightful companion for drizzly, cool evenings with meat-heavy meals. California’s Central Valley lends itself to a diversity of weather, landscapes, and grapes, giving our winemakers the opportunity to experiment with grape blends, and with this one, they found a winning combination. 2017 was a particularly good vintage for Lodi with perfect weather conditions that resulted in well-balanced, expressive grapes. This fresh and fruity red is perfect for pairing with red meat dishes like roasted lamb, oxtail stew, or bison burgers. Judges from the 2020 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition awarded this wine a Double Gold medal and it was awarded a Bronze medal at the 2019 Harvest Challenge!

WINE REGION:
Lodi
The jewel of the Central Valley, Lodi lies just east of the California Delta in an area of varied terroir. Winemakers here can extract different grape variety expressions from each plot of land. Zinfandel is common here, making deeply fruity and tantalizingly smoky wines, often from old vines. But the deep loamy soils and balmy Mediterranean climate, with its warm days and cool nights, help keep Lodi's grape varieties and winemaking styles impressively diverse. Alongside the ubiquitous Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Viognier also thrive. Lodi is a melting pot of different grape varieties and winemaking techniques, all of which make it a rewarding region to explore.

TASTING NOTES:
Plum
Black Cherry
Forest Floor
We would go as far as to call this wine luscious. The blend is balanced with the Barbera giving the acidity, Merlot providing freshness and red fruit, Cabernet Franc adding a smooth texture, and Grenache giving a bit of dark, bold flavors.

ABOUT THE BRAND:
FogBreak
Each morning, cooling mists from the Pacific Ocean roll across the valleys of California. Vineyards below this cloud cover hold onto night's chill just a bit longer, allowing grapes to ripen slower than those that greet the morning sun. This is the inspiration for FogBreak, where each wine is a lesson in subtlety, and every sip slowly unfolds to reveal something beautiful.
