Barbera Grenache Cabernet Sauvignon
Fifth Note Cellars blends are crafted from specific varietals and regions to enhance the flavors, spices, sauces, and herbs in your favorite recipe or next meal. Barbera from the sandy soils of Lodi has a refreshing acidity, cranberry, and black cherry. Grenache from high elevation old vines in the Sierra Foothills produces small concentrated bunches of expressive, spicy, textural Grenache. Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and Paso Robles tie these varieties together and provide richness. It feels like an Old World wine. We call it power and poise in a glass. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.
