Doble de Diez
Spain
Experience a more subtle take on a Spanish Red in the Imported Wine of the year, 94 point, Platinum Medal release from Doble de Diez
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Doble de Diez
Mencia
Most Spanish reds you can find on the market are aggressive and brutish. They hem and haw and attack you with fruit and bold tannins. This wine is more about the elegance, balance, and concentrated flavors that can come from careful cultivation. Made from the Mencia grape, a grape that used to only be used for blends, this wine over-delivers and has experienced a revival in Spain. We would recommend popping this in the refrigerator for ten minutes before serving. It will highlight the pomegranate and raspberry as well as allow you to tease out dark chocolate, coconut, nutmeg, and tomato leaves. Pair with pizza, sausages, or even a nice steak. Judges rave about this wine: it was awarded “Imported Wine of the year”, 94 points and a Platinum medal at the 2020 Winemaker Challenge and a Silver medal from the 2019 Sommelier Challenge.

WINE REGION:
Spain
While its reputation as a serious wine destination was eclipsed by France and Italy for many years, ignoring Spain today means missing out on some of the world's most exciting wines. Enjoying hundreds of miles of sun-kissed coastline and rocky interiors at higher elevations, Spain provides an ideal location for vineyards. Whether it is sparkling cavas from Catalonia, crisp Verdejos from Rueda, sublime Tempranillos from Ribera del Duero or inky Monastrells from Valencia, Spain has many wine styles to explore, all expressing the country's wildly unique terroir.

TASTING NOTES:
Chocolate
Pomegranate
Cherry
Spanish wines can be bold, but the Doble de Diez flips the script. This is an elegant wine with restrained fruit flavors of pomegranate and cherry that play off the more interesting notes of chocolate, coconut, and tomato leaf. We've been enjoying this as much with food as on its own.

ABOUT THE BRAND:
Doble de Diez
When winemaking was first introduced to Spain over three millennia ago, our ancestors didn't have advanced equipment or cutting-edge technology. Their investments came in the form of tireless labor, dedication and perseverance. Doble de Diez pays homage to the first Spanish winemaker who proved that through hard work and determination, one can turn humble beginnings into great fortunes. We believe these qualities to be the truest riches in the world. With this ideology and the traditions bestowed on us, our wines don't stop at a perfect 10 but push beyond, over-delivering on value and allowing you the chance to double your fortune.
